Asian Americans Aren't Mandarins

MSNBC Video:  Ann Coulter "You Can't Police My Language"

As you can hear, Ann Coulter called Asians (in America) Mandarins as she appeared on MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews. And even when she was being "corrected" for using an archaic term (if not a racial slur) she still repeatedly insisted (for over a minute) that Asians are Mandarins and even replied "You can't police my language."

Well you know what Ann? Oh yes, we can!

And yes, you may  have the freedom of speech and we respect that, but we are totally free to police that part of your language that we deem offensive, demeaning and derogatory. And yes, also educating you along the way.

Because one, you are wrong, two, you are wrong, and three, you are wrong.

1. Mandarins are citrus trees that bear fruits that are also called mandarins.

2. Mandarin is the official language of the People's Republic of China

3. Mandarins (as she is most probably referring to) is an obsolete term referring to public officials of China's Imperial Government, which ended back 1913, as she was told again and again.

Now even if we give her the benefit of the doubt (I mean that she isn't being racist). Most everyone else in the planet knows that not all Chinese people speak Mandarin. Not all Asian Americans are Chinese. And lastly, not all Asians (or Asian Americans) speak Mandarin. So lumping all Asians into one group and then calling them Mandarins, is just, and I'll say it again -- wrong, if not idiotic.
